The Bible's view of bribery depends on whether you are a victim of tyranny or a ruler. The mark of an unrighteous ruler is his acceptance of bribes: Deut. 16:18-19. But for the righteous man trapped in a corrupt legal system, offering a bribe is one way to gain justice: Prov. 17:8; Prov. 18:16; Prov. 21:14; Matt. 5:38-41.
