Jesus commands us to "judge not" (Matt. 7:1, Luke 6:37), not to resist evil but return good for evil, being merciful as our heavenly Father is merciful (Luke 6:27-36), and to forgive all men without end (Matt. 18:22, cf. Matt. 6:12). This mean that Jesus forbade all earthly courts of justice because courts return evil for evil and punish rather than forgive. James also said not to judge your neighbor (Jam. 2:4, 4:11-12) and that mercy destroys judgment (Jam. 2:13). Likewise, Paul says that when we judge one another, we condemn ourselves (Rom. 2:1-4).
